VINA Morales successfully made her debut on the Broadway stage on Sept. 22 as part of the “Here Lies Love” cast – the groundbreaking musical from David Byrne and Fatboy Slim. She is set to play the role of Aurora Aquino, which was originated by co-producer Lea Salonga.
Vina joins the show for a limited guest engagement. She will be at the Broadway Theater until Oct. 22.
The 47-year-old actress took to social media to express her excitement for her theater stage debut.
“See you tonight on the dance floor! Let’s party tonight,” she wrote.
Various fans of the actress congratulated her in the comments section while others wished her luck.
“Congratulations!!! Kung merong run nito sa Pilipinas, lilipad talaga ako pa Manila…Di dapat pinapalampas mga ganitong pagkakataon. Minsan lang ito at piling pili lang ang nabibigyan ng opportunity,” a fan commented.
Meanwhile, the cast of “Here Lies Love” warmly welcomed Vina and expressed their excitement as she joined them. The cast uploaded a welcome video on the official Instagram account of the musical.
“The day is HERE! Our cast is so excited to welcome [Vina Morales] to the Here Lies Love family. Get your tickets to see her tonight online or at the door,” the caption said.
Vina previously shared with PUSH how excited she was to be part of a historical musical despite potential social media backlash.
“I know that this is a very controversial play. And honestly, from what I’ve heard, this is the most entertaining play right now on Broadway. I think we are making history because it’s an all-Filipino cast telling the Filipino history on Broadway,” she shared. (PUSH)
