BACOLOD City — In Congress, the Visayas bloc will push for the realization of the “Visayan Tourism Highway.”

Cong. Alfredo Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District) said the country’s major tourist spots are in Visayas, and there is need to link them.

“A four-lane road network passing through different Visayas islands will provide travelers with ease and comfort,” Benitez said.

He said the plan was inspired by the Strong Republic Nautical Highway of the Gloria Macapagal–Arroyo administration.

Also under the plan, he said, all road networks leading to roll-on, roll-off ports will be improved.

Meanwhile, Benitez said the House committee on ways and means has passed the Sugarcane Bill on second reading.

“I hope the bill will soon be tackled in the plenary,” he said. “I expect that my bill to become a law before the year ends.”/PN
