MARGUERITTE Therese Calaor of Bacolod Tay Tung High School took home two gold medals in the karatedo event of the 2018 PSC Visayas Open Iloilo leg in Iloilo City.
Calaor, a native of Bacolod City, bagged the top prizes in the 11-13 years old girls’ kata and kumite events.
“Margueritte is one of our talented athletes. She has a bright future in karatedo,” Bacolod Tay Tung vice president for sports Jose Montalbo told Panay News.
The karatedo event of the Visayas games’ Iloilo leg was held on Aug. 11 at SM City Iloilo in Mandurriao district.
In other results, Rei Josh Condada, Kyle Armada and Zyrhon Vallejera captured one gold each in the 16-under boys kumite. John Maquiling, RJ Fermocil and Nathaniel Gatos had silver while Zydrix Sipe, Harold Luis, Norbert Muhammad, Frankie Fermosil, and John Secretaria won bronze.
In U16 girls kumite, Verxia Condada, Rita Cuadra and Joy Tubongbanua took home a gold each. Ferdie Mae Lail, Kimberly Fuentes and Therese Magoliman had silver while Felie Aparicio, Babylyn Magluyan, Myle Pasamante, and Goldie Franco had bronze.
Winning golds in 11-13 boys kumite were Jioneth Ladublan, Rik Simon Macaya and Jued Tomas. John Garbino, Ydrianne Enad and Ruz Macaya won silver and Kent John Catequesta, Jujin Ferrer, Isiah Aparicio, and Aron Sinepete had bronze.
In 11-13 girls kumite, gold medal winners were Choelyn Franco, Athea Sinepete and Shiara Medina. Taking home silver were Marie Gregorio, Bea Bade and Yaneshka Aparicio. Patricia Sevilla, Charlotte Insular and Hannah Damasco bagged bronze medals./PN
