VIVA warns legal action vs Nadine Lustre

VIVA Artists Agency (VAA) on Monday said it will “initiate appropriate legal action” against Nadine Lustre, following the actress’ announcement that she has “terminated” her contract with the local entertainment giant.

VAA, which helped raise Lustre’s showbiz career as a girl group member to an award-winning film star, stressed that she “remains an exclusive artist of VIVA as she has a valid and subsisting management contract.”

Lustre’s legal team earlier on Monday announced that she “has decided to terminate her agency contract with VIVA,” saying she is currently “self-managed and will continue to be so indefinitely.”

Lustre will “directly manage her affairs from now on, and bookings and inquiries may be directly addressed to her,” her camp’s statement added.

In a statement given to ABS-CBN News, VAA said that “any dealings or professional engagements entered into by Nadine, without the consent or approval of VIVA constitutes breach of contract.”

“VIVA shall initiate appropriate legal action against Nadine and/or third parties that directly deal with Nadine in contravention of VIVA’s management contract,” it said.

Under VIVA, Lustre starred in eight films in a lead role, released a solo album, and staged two major concerts with her former boyfriend James Reid. (ABS-CBN)
