ILOILO City – A political aspirant seeking a local elective post in the May 2022 elections faces rape charges.
The complainant, a 30-year-old vlogger/motorcycle rider from Manila, went to the Pontevedra police station in Capiz and lodged a complaint against the candidate for allegedly molesting her on Thursday night.
The man is running for Sangguniang Bayan member in the town.
The complainant said after the incident, the suspect forced him to ride on his motorcycle and abandoned her somewhere in Roxas City, a few kilometers away from Pontevedra.
The victim was able to seek help from a resident and the Roxas City police station.
Personnel of the women and children protection desk of the Pontevedra police station picked her up, and they went to a hospital for a checkup.
The rape charge was filed yesterday before the Capiz provincial prosecutor’s office in Roxas City, according to Police Major Syril Punzalan, chief of the Pontevedra police station.
Punzalan did not elaborate more details.
The suspect, who has a daughter, was reportedly a motorcycle rider, too.
