BACOLOD City – The Victorias Milling Company (VMC) and the city government of Victorias in Negros Occidental are eyeing more partnerships as the city celebrates its Kalamayan Festival this December.
Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, in a press conference over the weekend, said he is happy with their continued partnership with VMC.
Nobody can say Victorias City without VMC, he pointed out.
The city mayor added that the city government owes a big gratitude and appreciation to the company for having an annual VMC Day during the festival.
For his part, VMC president Linley Retirado said their partnership is geared towards providing a livelihood to the residents.
“Our management and Mayor Javi have talks on how to generate more jobs. We always prefer employees from Victorias City due to its proximity to their homes. They know the culture of VMC as a company,” Retirado said.
The partnership also has plans to revitalize the city’s local tourism.
Retirado pointed out that Victorias City is now more accessible to the Bacolod-Silay Airport thanks to the economic highway.
Plans are also in place to rehabilitate the Victorias Golf and Country Club, which could be fully realized in two to three years. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
