BACOLOD City – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) called for volunteers in its anticrime community mobilization program.

Assistant Secretary for Barangay Affairs and Community Development Roosque Calacat led the launching of the program at the BAYS Center yesterday.
Essentially barangay-based, the MASA Masid shall involve teams comprising representatives from nongovernment organizations, the Barangay Peace and Order Council and the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council, Calacat said.
Currently the program is focused on the the antidrug campaign of the Duterte administration, he said.
Specifically concerned with the helping drug users, the program will give more attention on community-based rehabilitation program, “more on saving lives … giving back lives,” said Calacat.
Carmelo Orbista, officer-in-charge of the local DILG office, said MASA Masid is expected to gather the community against drugs.
“We believe peace and order is a shared responsibility of all Filipinos,” said Orbista. “Through the MASA Masid program, citizens can help the government in its campaign to rid the country of crime and illegal drugs.”
