ILOILO – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Region 6 is ready to resume voters’ registration for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
“The elections are on Dec. 5,” said Comelec-6 director Atty. Wilfred Jay Balisado.
The voters’ registration is between July 4 and July 23.
According to Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco, the poll body had approved the voter’ registration up to July 23.
Under Republic Act 8189 (Continuing Voter’s Registration Act), voter registration is prohibited within 120 days prior to elections.
“The registration or application form can be reproduced so kon may mga shortage, siguro puedeng magawan ng paraan,” said Balisado.
Who are qualified to registered? Those 18 years old and above or those turning 18 on or before Dec. 5.
Just bring a birth certificate, any valid government identification card or school records.
Youngsters from 15 to 17 years old are qualified to register and vote.
Base on Republic Act No. 10742 or the SK Reform Act of 2015, SK voters shall be aged 15 to 30 years while candidates are between 18 to 24 years old.
