VP Leni pushes work-from-home scheme amid coronavirus fears

MANILA – Vice President Leni Robredo is urging both government and the private sector to consider adopting work-from-home scheme in light of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

Robredo said it is high time to implement such measures to ensure the safety of workers and their families.

She also urged the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to impose a price freeze on sanitary products and disinfectants, to avoid profiteering in such times.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the management of emerging infectious disease is considering a four-day work week in certain government offices.

Isa ito sa mga options na maaaring gamitin lalo na sa government offices na medyo exposed sa COVID-19,” Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said in an interview with DZBB.

Nograles said if ever the four-day work week is implemented, it will not be nationwide but only in areas with high concentration of COVID-19 cases.

“Right now, nasa punto pa lang na pinag aaralan itong option na ito,” he added. “Ito ay napag uusapan na in small groups ng task force in coordination with the Civil Service Commission.”/PN
