MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio is obliged to clarify to the public the growing list of alleged dubious recipients of confidential funds from the Office of Vice President (OVP) and during her time as Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).

According to Presidential Communications Office’s Undersecretary Claire Castro, the Vice President should take the lead in addressing the issue, which is part of the impeachment complaint against her.

“We believe that VP Sara has the obligation to tell something about this, about these discoveries,” Castro said in a media briefing at the Malacañang Palace on Monday.

House Deputy Majority Leader Francisco Paolo Ortega V recently disclosed names of supposed recipients of confidential funds from the OVP and DepEd that have no birth, marriage, or death records in the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) database.

Among the supposed recipients of confidential funds from the OVP and DepEd are Jay Kamote, Miggy Mango, Dodong Alcala, Dodong Bina, Dodong Bunal, Dodong Darong, Dodong S. Barok, Amoy Liu, Fernan Amuy, and Joug De Asim.

“Una, may chichirya, may cellphone, at may prutas. Ortega said.

Duterte, who was impeached by the House of Representatives, has stood firm that there was no misuse of confidential funds in her office./PN
