ILOILO City – Western Visayas’ No. 1 most wanted man – a former member of the Philippine Marine Corps – was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 2, in Regatta South Executive Home, Barangay Niugan, Cabuyao, Laguna.
The 62-year-old suspect from Pototan, Iloilo was arrested by personnel of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) after two years of hiding.
Police said the suspect had an arrest warrant for the crime of four counts of rape issued by Judge Vicente Villa Go of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 68, Dumangas, Iloilo dated July 20, 2022.
He is now being detained at the Pototan police station. No bail bond was recommended for his temporary liberty.
According to IPPO director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño, the suspect was accused of sexually molesting his 16-year-old niece sometime in May 2020.
“He left their house and hid in Laguna after learning that his niece filed four counts of rape against him. But we recently received an information that he was in Laguna and we went there and we got him,” said Aliño.
Meanwhile, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, director of Police Regional Office 6, said the operation was the result of his standing order to all unit commanders to conduct operations against most wanted persons.
“As much as possible we have to get top wanted persons,” Francisco said./PN
