DONALD J. Trump may have won the 2024 US presidential election, but he still faces an uphill battle against the American establishment as well as their allies among nongovernment organizations and foreign governments.
Additionally, he will almost likely face opposition from factions within his own party, the Republicans, who see him and his supporters as interlopers.
So far that opposition has yet to emerge but I wouldn’t be surprised if political tensions were to ramp up next year.
So far, most of the Left’s reaction is limited to noises in social media, but given the controversies and tensions in Trump’s first presidency, most of his own supporters expect similar conflicts in the second.
The best example was the BLM (Black Lives Matter) riots. All it takes is for a similar mass movement to coalesce and Trump could be facing the same problems all over again.
From there, political violence could spread, destabilizing Trump’s second Presidency despite his electoral mandate.
This is all speculation for now but based on the anger and vitriol towards MAGA (Make America Great Again) on social media, it would not be a far off assessment. That anger only needs a little funding and some organization to turn into political violence.
The thing, though, is that MAGA has learned from Trump’s first term and have begun to expect that violence and are organizing themselves too. They have also earned the support of certain counter-elites, like Elon Musk and Robert Kennedy.
What this means is that the MAGA right knows what to expect when the Left lashes out, and the Left wants to lash out. It has happened before. It is almost certain that it will happen again. The question is how vicious the political turmoil will be.
Will it be at the same level as Trump’s first term, will it be less or will it be worse?/PN
