Wanted: Barangay doctors

ILOILO City – The city government will be hiring 15 doctors beginning next month to boost its delivery of basic healthcare services to 180 barangays.

The ideal ratio is actually one doctor for every barangay health center, said Mayor Jerry Treñas.

The City Health Office at the second floor of city hall will be accepting applications.

It hopes to receive applications most especially from pediatricians and general practitioners.

Addressing the health needs of city residents is a priority, said Treñas.

The city government is also scouting for a two-hectare property as site for a proposed hospital.

The Department of Health regional office will build it while the city government will shoulder the hospital’s personnel requirement./PN
