ILOILO – A fire that swept through a warehouse in Barangay Guihaman, Leganes resulted in an estimated damage of P70 million.
The blaze began at 3:52 p.m. on April 4.
Fire Inspector Mary Cheryll Montaña, acting municipal fire marshal, said the warehouse contained highly flammable materials such as paints, rubber, PVC, and various plastics.
A coordinated effort saw 17 fire trucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and volunteer fire brigades from neighboring towns worked together to control and eventually extinguish the fire, preventing further spread.
Additional measures were taken to ensure the fire did not reignite, including a comprehensive mopping-up operation by the BFP and volunteers.
The fire was completely extinguished after more than three hours of intense firefighting.
The BFP is currently investigating the cause of the fire./PN
