Washington Wizards completes season sweep over Charlotte

WASHINGTON Wizards completed their four-game sweep of Charlotte Hornets in the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season with a 113-100 victory on Saturday night (Sunday in the Philippines) at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Khris Middleton and Bilal Coulibaly each scored 17 points to lead the way for the Wizards, while Richaun Holmes came off the bench to contribute 15 points and nine rebounds.

Corey Kispert also chipped in 13 markers, Marcus Smart and Carlton Carrington had 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Alex Sarr and Julian Champagnie ended with 10 apiece for Wizards, now with a 11-43 record.

Washington began to pull away late in the third quarter on a pair of 3-pointers by Carrington, then built a 14-point lead to open the fourth when Smart buried a three-pointer and scored on a floater.

Mark Williams had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Hornets, LaMelo Ball added 20 points and Miles Bridges had 18 markers as they suffered their sixth consecutive loss for a 14-45 mark.

Meanwhile, Detroit Pistons (34-27) returned to their winning ways with a dominant 115-94 victory over Brooklyn Nets (21-39) at the Little Caesar Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

A day after seeing their eight-game winning run snapped by Denver Nuggets, the Pistons set the tone early against the Nets with a 39-22 first quarter lead en route to a blowout win.

Jalen Duren posted a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds to go with six blocks, two assists, and two steals, while Tobias Harris chipped in 18 markers and nine boards.

Malik Beasley also delivered 18 markers off the bench, including five three-point connections, Cade Cunningham had 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, while Ausar Thompson ended with 13 for Detroit.

Tyrese Martin top-scored for the Nets with 23 points, Jalen Wilson added 14 markers, while Cameron Johnson, Ziarie Williams, and Keon Johnson had 13, 11, and 10 points, respectively./PN
