ILOILO City – With the resurgence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Metro Manila, there is an urgent need for more vaccines now.
This was the assessment of Vice President Leni Robredo on the country’s current COVID-19 situation.
“Medyo alarming siya,” Robredo told reporters during her visit here on Tuesday.
The second highest official of the country visited the city’s Molecular Laboratory in Barangay San Pedro, Molo district.
Robredo said there is vaccine scarcity.
“Marami pa ang nangangailangang hindi pa nabibigyan, so every time na may bababa ina-allocate ng gobyerno para sa mga lugar na pinakakailangan,” said Robredo.
As to the spike in cases, the Vice President cited the recent projection that daily new infections could reach 20,000 by April.
Aside from Iloilo City, the Vice President also visited several projects funded by her office in some towns in Iloilo.
On October 2020, the Office of the Vice President also donated personal protective equipment, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction detection kits worth P5.5 million and facemasks to the Iloilo City Government./PN
