
ILOILO – The Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) recorded a slight rise in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province.
From April 2 to 15, it logged 43 cases – 53 percent higher than the 23 cases listed from March 19 to April 1.
IPHO head Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon said the average daily cases this week rose to three from the previous less than two cases.
She reminded the Ilonggos, particularly senior citizens and persons with comorbidities, to wear facemask especially in closed spaces.
“Wala man kita dulaon kon aton ini sundon,” said Quiñon, adding that physical distancing should be observed, too.
Practice frequent hand washing or sanitizing of hands, she further said, and refrain from holding and shaking hands.
Quiñon urged everyone to get vaccinated or get their booster shot as an added protection against COVID-19.
As of April 17, here is the vaccination accomplishment in the province:
* First dose – 1,377,950 or 94.27 percent
* Second dose – 1,292,571 or 88.43 percent
* First booster – 290,054 or 19.84 percent
* Second booster – 25,216 or .73 percent
Also, as of April 17, the province recorded 51,482 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 39 are still active, 49,785 recovered and 1,628 deaths.
The 39 active cases are from Oton, Pavia, Pototan, Lambunao, Janiuay, Sara, Dumangas, Tigbauan, Calinog, Concepcion, Dingle, Ajuy, Igbaras, Maasin, Badiangan, Anilao, San Rafael, Tubungan, Santa Barbara, Passi City, Dueñas, Estancia, and Leganes./PN
