VICTORIAS City – In a show of solidarity with the 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW), the City of Victorias is urging the public to wear orange as a symbol of support.
The city government will launch the city-wide “Orange Your Icon Movement” today, November 25, encouraging city officials, employees, barangay leaders, personnel from national agencies, and high school students to don orange attire. This aims to send a strong message of zero tolerance for VAW and foster widespread awareness.
The Victorias City Information Office (VCIO) also called on all offices, landmarks, and iconic spots within the city to be adorned with orange decorations. Advocacy materials promoting anti-VAW initiatives will be distributed throughout the campaign period, which runs from November 25 to December 12.
To amplify the campaign’s reach, the city will showcase its “All-Women Cast Lupang Hinirang Video” during flag ceremonies and other official activities throughout the campaign.
In addition to the movement, the Victorias City Social Welfare and Development Office recently organized an advocacy forum titled “Children Safety: Personal, Cyber, Safe and Unsafe Touches” at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and Cultural Center.
The forum aimed to empower and educate Victoriasanon children about personal boundaries, online safety, and distinguishing between safe and unsafe touches. The event gathered 334 participants, including 200 elementary students and 40 teachers from 20 schools, 30 high school students and 12 teachers, as well as 26 representatives from Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children (BCPC) and 26 VAW and children desk officers.
Victorias City continues to emphasize the importance of collective action in addressing violence against women and ensuring child safety, with activities designed to educate and inspire the community./PN
