BACOLOD City – A wedding will no longer push through. The groom was arrested by policemen. He was suspected to have stolen a pig in Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Police identified the suspect as Jan Namar, a resident of the aforementioned village.
According to the Bago City police, the owner of a live hog, 36-year-old Joenel Balendes, filed a complaint that his 28-day-old hog had been stolen.
Several witnesses in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City would later claim seeing the suspect with the hog.
It was later found out that Namar brought it to his fiancée’s house in Barangay Tangub to be fattened for their wedding in January 2023, police said.
The hog was recovered; the bride’s family was unaware that the pig was stolen.
Police said the bride’s mother was furious and the whole family decided to call off the wedding.
