BACOLOD City – Almost P300,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in this city over the past weekend, according to the Bacolod City Police Office.
Eight suspects were arrested during five operations that five police stations conducted from Nov. 9 to 11.
The total worth of the recoveries reached P288,003.50, according to Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, BCPO spokesman.
“Station Drug Enforcement Teams of Police Stations 1, 3, 4, 7, and 8 conducted the operations in different areas,” Gabana pointed out.
Among the eight arrested were two minors, based on BCPO records.
Confiscated were 19.0026 grams of shabu worth P287,039, based on Dangerous Drugs Board values, and 4.193 grams of marijuana valued at P964.50.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, have been filed at the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspects, said Gabana.
The minor suspects were referred to the police’s Women and Children Protection Desk.
Gabana vowed that the BCPO’s campaign against illegal drugs will continue.
They are on guard against not only prohibited substance but also other forms of criminality, the police official said./PN
