ILOILO City – The weekend tienda, which was formally opened on Dec. 10 at the Casa Real, featured local organic farm products.
The event was participated by 26 entrepreneurs including homegrown artists and start-up micro, small and medium enterprises.
Among the products sold were food and drinks like cakes, tea jam, cacao, ginger and turmeric tea, peanut butter, chocolate, ginger and dried fish. Also available were herbal, bamboo, and handwoven products.
The weekend market fair was organized by the Regional Development Council with partner member-agencies and the private sector. It aims to provide opportunities to the products of local MSMEs, which are part of the sector that has been recognized to have contributed significantly to the region’s economy.
According to Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr., the weekend tienda will greatly help MSMEs in the province.
“Maabri ini sang dalan sang aton mga micro producers nga mabaligya nila kag mga mangin bakal ang ila mga produkto,” he said.
Undersecretary Evelyn G. Laviña of the Department of Agriculture was the guest speaker during the event./PN
