BACOLOD City – To ensure the safety of attendees during the 28th Panaad sa Negros Festival 2024, a weeklong gun ban will be imposed.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) will suspend all permits to carry firearms outside of residence (PTCFOR) beginning 12:01 a.m. on April 15 to 11:59 p.m. on April 21 in the province.

“We are asking our fellow Negrenses and visitors outside the province to abide by the rules set forth by the province. There will be consequences for those who violate this suspension,” said Police Captain Abegael Donasco, spokesperson for NOCPPO.

The theme for this year’s Panaad sa Negros Festival is “Living the Promise”.

Panaad” is the Hiligaynon word for vow or promise.

The festival aims to showcase the province’s rich culture, agricultural bounties, and the promise of a brighter future for Negros Occidental.

Its main feature is the showcase of the local government units’ themed pavilions designed as replicas of their own municipal or city hall or the famous product they are known for.

Earlier, NOCPPO said more than 500 police officers will secure this year’s edition of the Panaad Festival.

The primary focus areas of security are the crowded places, particularly the main festival venue, the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan in this city.

An inter-agency coordination team will also ensure smooth communication and collaboration between various law enforcement and emergency responders during the duration of the festival. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
