ILOILO City – Authorities arrested the No. 9 most wanted person in Western Visayas during a joint police operation in Barangay Paniabonan, Mabinay, Negros Oriental on March 1 at around 3:45 p.m.
The suspect, identified as “Alex”, 29, from Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental, was wanted for carnapping.
His arrest followed a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 254, Las Piñas City, on February 12, 2025, with a P300,000 bail for temporary release.
The operation involved the collaboration of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Intelligence Unit, Provincial Highway Patrol Team – Negros Occidental, 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Mabinay Municipal Police Station.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6, commended the arresting officers for their commitment to capturing fugitives.
“This arrest reflects our ongoing effort to bring criminals to justice. We encourage law enforcement to continue their work and strengthen community ties,” Wanky said.
The suspect is now in police custody and will be brought before the court for further legal action./PN
