MANILA – The entire Western Visayas will still be under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) for the month of April, according to President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte’s announcement last night was made following the approval of the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
This will be Iloilo City’s fourth straight month under MGCQ status, while this is Bacolod City’s fifth consecutive month for such.
The provinces of Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Aklan, Antique and Capiz, meanwhile, have been under the lighter community quarantine status since June last year.
The keeping of the quarantine statuses in Western Visayas was recommended amid the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country in the past few weeks.
Yesterday, the Philippines recorded another single-day high in number of COVID-19 patients with 10,016, pushing the country’s total cases to 731,894./PN
