“LAST Fool Show,” Star Cinema’s newest romantic-comedy, marks the first time Arci Munoz and JM de Guzman are working together.
The film sees Munoz as a writer-director struggling with her creativity. She resorts to facing her former partner, played by de Guzman, to relive memories with him – while being careful not to rekindle her feelings for him.
The setup proves tricky, as they navigate creating new memories together while also resurfacing past conflicts.
Despite having played a director in this movie, Munoz admits she doesn’t see herself working behind the cameras, helming a film.
“Hindi ko yata kaya,” she told ABS-CBN News in an interview on Sunday. “Nakikita ko sila (directors) eh. Actually pinag-aaralan ko, nag-o-observe ako. Nakapag-direct na ako ng music video pero malayo siya sa pelikula at sa soap.”
“Nung ginagawa kasi namin yung pelikula, parang ang dali-dali lang nung mga shots and yung mga ginagawa namin kasi nga light lang yung story. Pero nung pinapanood ko na, sabi ko saan yun doon? Saan niya yun kinunan? Saan niya nilagay yung camera,” Munoz added.
The actress feels she will never be able to think the way a director does. Nonetheless, she is not closing her doors to such a possibility in the future.
But her co-star isn’t singing the same tune.
“Isa siyang pangarap na aking gagawin,” quipped de Guzman.
The actor said he would probably undergo an apprenticeship to prepare for it.
“May nakausap ako na kaibigan ko. He wants me to direct. He will surround me with people daw na makakatulong mag-guide sa akin. Tuloy naman yata iyon,” he said.
Still showing nationwide, “Last Fool Show” opened in local cinemas last April 10. (ABS-CBN News)
