Tiff with China

Is the Philippines ready to go to war with China over territories in the West Philippine Sea?

If President Duterte will ask support from (US President Donald) Trump, there’s a huge possibility we will win over China. But considering the fact that the relationship of the US and PH is not good at present, there is a huge possibility the Philippines will be destroyed if goes to war (alone) with China. – ROGER LACUARTA, 26, businessman

The Philippines is not ready gid ya. Kulang sa military forces ang country ta. Ga ilinggat armas ka China, iya ka Pilipinas tuktukon.KHEN JOSHUA TERCO, 20, news reporter

We are not ready to face China in war. We are still at war with rebels in our country. We lack soldiers and war materiel, tool. We are captives of our own weaknesses. – HOWARD VILLOSO, 23, student

The Philippines might be willing to die (in war) to save its people but sadly we are not yet ready. We don’t have the equipment and fighting strategy. – EDEN GALLONES, 19, student

The Philippines is not totally ready. In a war with China, we are the underdogs in terms of battle paraphernalia. China is one of the most powerful countries in the world. I don’t think a third world country like ours is ready to conquer them. – RICA MAE BARAIRO, 18, student

PECO franchise

Should Panay Electric Company’s franchise be extended?

Yes, I agree as long as they can meet the demands of consumers. I heard a lot of concerns. Basi this time if mag-extend ila franchise mas better na ang service. I hope Congress will still allow them (to operate). – CRYSTAL LAURESTA, 20, fresh graduate

No. Indi sila dapat tagaan sang extension sang franchise, not until ma-resolve anay ang mga problema kag complaints about sa mga additional charges nga ginapatong nila which wala man sang consumers nagamit.

They should resolve all these concerns para bala daw mapahamtang kag may assurance man ang ila mga consumers. – LYNETE LABATING, 56, bookkeeper and part-time dog trainer, Iloilo City

No, because of poor service and the big difference between panukot sang electricity supply  sa uma and here sa city. How come nga dako gid sang amon nabayran diri sa syudad kun pareho man lang amon appliances nagamit and the number of people nga ga-consume elecricity? Kag mas tipid pa gani kame diri sa city mag gamit electricity.

So disappointing lang nga daw gapinalagpat lang sila panukot. We could have spent those extra charges to our other expenses. – JESSA CAPUNDAN, 20, fresh graduate
