FOR some people, joining a Science club is just a key for the pupils or students to get points on their extracurricular activities because of its different activities (either through the ones they create or the ones they get invited to or have knowledge of which they can participate in) when it does a lot more for its members.
Also, with science clubs being under the tutelage of the science teacher or the science teacher being the source of guidance, people would expect that the science teacher would know it all, but there are things that he or she can learn while helping or leading the club.
With age gaps and the differences of roles that teachers and learners play in school being common factors in how interactions happen in a group setting, there is going to be awkwardness and efforts in trying to blend in with each other – well, that is what people think. I realized that respect and observing perfect timing are enough to build and keep the relationship between teachers and the club members.
I also learned to appreciate the value of science clubs more because it combines teaching the student about life skills and adding more to their knowledge about Science because the club is in charge of facilitating different activities related to the subject for the school – they get to do what they love and become more responsible individuals at the same time.
The officers would learn about time management because they would need to balance their time for their studies, family, friends, and obligation to the club; critical thinking and creative thinking because they need to come up with ideas and ways to make those ideas work; and communication skills and social skills because they need to communicate and coordinate with other people to get things done.
With more responsibilities, it is also a perfect opportunity for the learners to learn on how to deal with stress which is done through time management, doing one thing at a time, and getting proper rest. I would make observations and apply it in what I do at work. It would also drive me to become more considerate towards them because of the sacrifices they made and the effort they exerted.
Through the science club, pupils or students get to expand their horizons when it comes to their knowledge of Science and how they act as people. (Paid article)
