ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas vowed to continue championing his “WHEELS” program for inclusive development and good governance backed by his “Team Uswag” or slate of winning councilors, Cong. Julienne Baronda and Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon.
“WHEELS” is the Treñas admisitration’s roadmap for city development and refers to Welfare, Health and sanitation, Education, Environmental management, Livelihood, and Sustainability.
“I am so grateful to the support of the Ilonggos to Team Uswag. I am so happy with the election results,” said Treñas.
Team Uswag dominated the race for city council seats, garnering 10 for reelectionist councilors Alan Zaldivar, Atty. Frances Parcon, Rudolph Ganzon, Atty. Rommel Duron, and Ely Estante, and neophytes Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna, Miguel Treñas, Dr. Urminico Baronda, Atty. Rex Sarabia, and businessman Johnny Young.
They are expected to give flesh to “WHEELS” via city council ordinances and resolutions.
Significant “WHEELS” milestones have been achieved since its launching three years ago. Among these were the improvements in the delivery of health and basic services, infrastructure projects, metro beautification and livelihood programs, among others.
Further supporting the program is Uswag Ilonggo multi-sectoral party-list which is now ensured of one seat in Congress via No. 1 nominee James “Jojo” Ang Jr., but Mayor Treñas is hopeful of another one; the Commission on Elections is not yet through with the canvassing of votes.
“I will always endeavor to serve all of you even better,” Treñas told the Ilonggos in a Facebook post.
Uswag Ilonggo’s major thrusts are the well-being of every Ilonggo family; proper healthcare for the poor; consistent programs on infrastructure and tourism; agriculture and fisheries; and education especially more scholarships for the youth.
For her part, Baronda said the results of the election affirmed the Ilonggos’ support for her campaign platform of H.O.P.E. (Health, Obra, Peace and Order, and Education).
She vowed to expand it to include Housing, OFW (overseas Filipino workers) welfare, Projects and Preparedness, and Environmental protection.
“I am humbled by the fresh mandate that the Ilonggos have given me. Their trust will only motivate me to double my efforts to repay them with viable and life-changing projects and transformational programs,” said Baronda.
Ganzon, for his part, also thanked the Ilonggos and vowed to repay them with genuine public service.
“Pagabalikan namon sang kapisan kag tampad nga pagserbisyo sa masunod nga tatlo ka tuig ang inyo ginhatag nga pagsalig kag pagsakdag sa amon,” said Ganzon./PN
