BACOLOD City – Where is Councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan? He has been out of his office since December 2018.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said the Bacolod City No. 1 councilor took a leave of absence after he and his wife Anita were ambushed by armed men on Dec. 14.
The couple was riding a Nissan Patrol sport utility vehicle when three unidentified gunmen attacked them at around 5 p.m. in Purok 12-A, Barangay Alangilan, a report from the Bacolod City Police Office showed.
The Tans were on their way home from the family-owned Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
They were not hit by the bullets but they were wounded by shards of their shattered windshields.
Familiaran, acting as the chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, said Tan has availed himself of almost 30 vacation leaves.
But the vice mayor stressed that he has “no idea” about Tan’s whereabouts.
Last month, President Rodrigo Duterte also linked Tan to the illegal drug trade during a private birthday party of an official of Vallacar Transit at a hotel in the city.
Tan has not commented on the issue since./PN
