Who are the richest, poorest Iloilo officials?

ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. had a net worth of P44.9 million in 2017, his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) showed.

He had the biggest net worth among provincial officials who filed their SALNs last year.

On the other hand, Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member Jeneda Salcedo-Orendain of the 5th District had the lowest net worth among Provincial Board members at P190,102, her 2017 SALN showed.

All government employees are required to submit their SALNs annually, said Alma Ravena, officer-in-charge of the provincial capitol’s Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO).

The practice is mandated by Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

The yearly deadline of filing is April 30, said Ravena, adding that it is her office’s responsibility to make sure that provincial government officials and employees do so.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias had a net worth of P26.1 million while Vice Gov. Christine Garin, P20.5 million.

First-term Provincial Board member Bryant Paul Biron of the 4th District is the richest SP member at P16,516,455.24.

Biron is the son of Cong. Ferjenel Biron, the 15th richest congressman based on his 2017 SALN submitted in the House of Representatives. The congressman, who is running for Iloilo governor, had a net worth of P286 million.

The net worth of the other SP members were:
