BACOLOD City – Police were still identifying the suspect and the motive in stabbing a man in Purok Cacao, Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Superintendent Rhea Santos, officer-in-charge of the Kabankalan City police station, identified the man as resident Joan Mamerto Manigos.

Manigos was watching a pageant in the village around 11 p.m. on Sunday when an unidentified suspect stabbed him, police said.

Manigos sustained three stab wounds on the chest. He was rushed to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City and later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City where he expired around 4 a.m. yesterday.
