ILOILO City – Eight Ilongga beauties are vying for the Miss Iloilo 2022 crown.
The Miss Iloilo organizer officially introduced the candidates through its official Facebook page Miss Iloilo. They are the following:
* Erica P. Doronila of Sara, Iloilo
* Angela E. Bolences of Tigbauan, Iloilo
* Elli Rose L. Elola of Pavia, Iloilo
* Blessie Jay S. Villablanca of La Paz, Iloilo City
* Jessah Jen M. Garbino of Cabatuan, Iloilo
* Tsina Jade D. Chu of Anilao, Iloilo
* Elisha Lorraine G. Abella of Jaro, Iloilo City
* Dorothy Marie P. Gemillan of La Paz, Iloilo City
Miss Iloilo replaced the Miss Dinagyang beauty pageant that for many years chose the city’s ambassadress of goodwill. It was first staged in 2020.
The first Miss Iloilo was Rabiya Mateo who subsequently joined and won the Miss Universe-Philippines title. She represented the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2020 pageant in the United States and finished as a semifinalist.
Miss Iloilo 2020 was directed by respected Ilonggo theater and film director, artist and University of the Philippines professor Kevin Pison Piamonte. He will also be the pageant director for this year’s staging.
According to Iloilo Festival Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) executive director Joyce Clavecillas, since there’s a pandemic and large gatherings are not allowed, the Miss Iloilo pageant night will be held in a private place here in Iloilo City with a very limited number of participants and audience.
Those who will be on ground are the production crew, the candidates and the judges only.
But the Ilonggos will still have a chance to watch it via Facebook live stream in the pages of the Iloilo City Government, IFFI and Mayor Jerry Treñas./PN
