SAN JOSE, Antique – Some nurses of Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) have resigned.
Why?
It was not because of the much publicized delayed salaries but for health reasons, clarified ASMGH chief nurse Czerwin Juales.
“May mga nurses gid man kita nga nag-signify gusto nanda magpahuway because they are so worried…Basi ang anda pamilya run mong ang apektado kon sigehon pa nanda duty. Basi amo dya ang rason nga makadara pa ka sakit sa anda sulod ka panimalay,” Juales explained.
Fourteen nurses initially decided on resigning, he revealed, but after a dialogue with him seven opted to stay.
“Gin mangkot nakon sanda with regards sa anda nga nabatyagan…kon ano gid bala ang real score nga kinahanglan gid nanda magpahuway. So, anda nga mga concern is may mga pamilya sanda immuno-compromised, may mga bata sanda nga new born,” said Juales.
Others, he said, were pregnant “kag ga-present sanda kang premature contractions. Nag-advise ang anda nga doctor nga kinahanglan gid anay nanda magpahuway.”
Juales welcomed the decision of seven other nurses to reconsider their plan to resign and “magpadayon ka serbisyo sa atun nga pumuluyo rugya sa probinsya kang Antique.”
To augment manpower due to the resignation of seven nurses, Juales said they already scheduled all permanent nurses to duty in the ward for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, except for nurses who are 60 years old and above, and those with comorbidities.
On the other hand, Dr. Leoncio Abiera, provincial health officer, said they will be providing healthcare workers board and lodging as soon as the Antique National School (ANS) building becomes available.
“But we are also looking sa possibility nga basi may makita kita nga pondo nga pwede sanda sa mga hotels, at least komportable sanda. Pero as of the moment unahon natun ang ANS anay kay mas rapit. Kag para hindi sanda anay ka uli sa pamilya nanda,” said Abiera.
He added: “Kon ano ang gina-suggest para sa ikamayad kang hospital, kang atun personnel, atun gid ri-an suportahan.” (PIO Barcebal/PN)
