ROXAS City – A wider and stricter implementation of ordinances pertaining to discipline, cleanliness and orderliness in this city netted 371 violators so far.
The city government launched the City Ordinances and Regulations Enforcement (CORE) Unit last month to ensure and strengthen the implementation of local ordinances.
These ordinances include the Smoke- and Vape-Free Ordinance, Baybayon Ko, Limpyohan Ko, the Comprehensive Anti-Littering and Anti-Dumping Ordinance, and the Open Muffler Ordinance.
The majority of the apprehensions were violators of the Smoke-Free Ordinance.
Data showed that 16 smokers were issued citation tickets on July 9, another 59 violators on July 11, and 43 more on July 12.
Moreover, on July 13, 53 more violators of the Smoke-Free Ordinance were cited, on July 14–18; July 14 – 18; July 15 – 40; July 16 – 22; July 17 – 38; July 18 – 33; July 19 – 30; and July 20 – 19.
Meanwhile, 35 individuals were also apprehended for violating the ordinance against open muffler.
The CORE Unit is headed by City Environment and Natural Resources Office chief Ronald Amigo, while members include the Bantay Bayan, traffic management office, rescue rangers, Roxas City police, and officials of the city’s 47 barangays. (With a report from Radyo Bandera Roxas)/PN
