
ILOILO – A 61-year-old woman died while her 67-year-old husband was injured when their tricycle was hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Barangay Cabugao Sur, Sta. Barbara town.
Sta. Barbara police said Virginia Majaducon and Leo Majaducon, residents of the town’s Barangay Buyo, were rushed to the hospital but the former succumbed to a severe head injury while receiving treatment. Leo sustained a knee injury and was in stable condition.
Captain Raffy Señeres, officer-in-charge of the Sta. Barbara Municipal Police Station (MPS), said at around 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, the tricycle driven by Leo was attempting to make a U-turn when it was struck from behind by the SUV driven by alias “Marvin”,28, and a resident of Barangay San Julian, Janiuay town.
Due to the strong impact, Virginia was thrown off the tricycle, Señeres said.
The SUV driver meanwhile was taken into custody by the Sta. Barbara MPS.
Charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide were filed against him./PN
