BACOLOD City – A 53-year-old wife is now in the custody of the Talisay City Police Station in Negros Occidental. She was arrested for allegedly killing her husband.
Local police said Rema Mahinay, a resident of Barangay Zone 10, Talisay City, was taken to the local health office due to hypertension after her arrest.
Talisay police investigation revealed that at around 8 p.m. of Sept. 18, the husband, Rolly Mahinay, 57, was drunk and had a heated argument with Rema.
Rolly pulled his wife’s hair and they both fell on the floor. The victim accidentally hit his head on a corner, police said.
“In the morning of the following day (Sept. 19) the wife tried to awaken her husband who was lying on the floor but was already unresponsive. At first, she did not mind and continued her daily chores,” police said.
In the afternoon, Danny Satornino, a neighbor of the couple, went inside their house and checked on the victim.
Rolly, who was already lifeless, was found lying in their living room with blood at the back of his head.
The couple’s daughter, meanwhile, told the police her mother has a nervous breakdown.
The five children of the couple refused an autopsy for their father, police added.
Rolly had bruises on his chest, arms and hands. They also recovered hair strands from the crime scene./PN
