ILOILO – Eleven towns in northern Iloilo agreed to observe a “lockdown” every Sunday to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Will this once-a-week move work?
The so-called lockdown will start this Sunday, April 12.
The 11 towns banded together under the name “Northern Iloilo Alliance Anti COVID 19 Task Force.”
Banias of Concepcion, Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy, Mayor Jon Aying of Sara, Mayor Manuel Ganzon of Balasan, Mayor Elvira Alarcon of Batad, Mayor Siegfredo Betita of Carles, Mayor Roberto Belleza of San Rafael, Mayor Melina Requinto of Estancia, Mayor Larry Villanueva of San Dionisio, and Mayor Oscar Villegas Jr. of Lemery.
They agreed on the every-Sunday-lockdown during an April 5 meeting.
No residents of these towns would be leaving their houses unless there’s a medical emergency or if purchasing medicines, or if the member of the household is working in a hospital.
All establishments in the 11 towns would close shop, too, except pharmacies.

Not useful. Actually not many people can go outside here in Lemery and traffic is already rare since ECQ. Until now, there’s no case in the 5th District, I don’t understand why the ECQ could not be lifted here as to resume the economy ASAP?
