Talisay City – Negros Occidental-based 3×3 basketball teams earned their qualification spots during the Negros leg of the MDC Sports Inc. 3×3 League on Jan.26 at the city’s Gym.
Emerging as the winner in the 21-and-under category is Talisay Sharks composed of Jopeth Torico, Kobe John Baging, Marknhel Pronda and Jay-R Bayona with Ryan Hugnaton as head coach.
The women’s open category, meanwhile, was topped by the Team Jatta of Melchar Jerez, Ailyn Tumbali, Ann del Rosario and Nica Joy Trazo with Mary Joy Denosta and Teng Donato as coaches.
In the 18-and-under boys, John Lord Gulpany, Jan Mig Deuterte and Keyean Leonoras of the team MDM Sagay of won the championship. Pio Manlangit served as the head coach..
In the 18-and-under girls, the Raymundo T. Tongson National High School team of Emma Jean Sevilla, Reiza Mae Candozo, Jen Ann Ebon and Rachelle Anne Ambos was named as champion.
The team Wildcats of Burg Gabriel Lapu-os, GM Gonzales, Andrian Gabriel Sequnla and Jay Clyde Divinagracia claimed the best trophy in the 15-and-under category.
St. John’s Institute ruled the 12-and-under category with Enzo Lacson, Miggy Sy, Shaun Canino and Matthew Ramirez, as well as the 10-and-under category with Nathaniel Fajardo, Will Anthony Sy, Gabe Tan and Zach Yap.
The winners of the Negros qualifying tournaments will advance to the National Finals slated on May 11 at the Marikina Sports Complex./PN
