‘Winning’ vs COVID-19 Iloilo’s big achievement in 2022 – Defensor

ILOILO – Ilonggos can celebrate a happy and colorful Christmas and New Year, according to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., citing the province’s  “successful” fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Our achievement is nakabangon na kita sa COVID-19. Salamat ginpulolihan naton ni tanan upod kamo,” said Defensor.

As of Dec. 12, Iloilo had 149 active cases of COVID-19, or a daily average of 11 cases.

In total, there are 50,946 COVID-19 cases in the province, of which 49,115 have recovered and 1,593 died.

Defensor called on the Ilonggos to unite for a continuous recovery and to

achieve the provincial government’s mission, vision and objectives under his administration for the next three years, which is the “Movement for Resurgent, Progressive, Globally Competitive and Resilient” or “MoReProGRes” Iloilo.

Another achievement for the provincial government was bagging the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

For Defensor, the 2022 SGLG award is proof that the provincial government is on par with the standards set by the DILG for good governance.

Another achievement of the provincial government was downloading P100 million to different municipalities for the construction of additional classrooms. Defensor said this will have a huge impact on the youth’s future./PN
