ROXAS City – A 79-year-old resident of Barangay Duyoc, Dao, Capiz died in a fire that razed her house on Tuesday.
Firefighters found the charred body of Ma. Ely Gallardo after putting the blaze out, Senior Inspector Hilbert Gervero, municipal police chief, told Panay News.
Citing the victim’s son, Ben, Gervero said Gallardo lived alone.
“She may have been asleep already when the fire broke out and was unable to leave the house,” Gallardo said.
Police said the fire started at around 10:30 p.m.
Personnel of the local Bureau of Fire Protection responded to a fire call from a concerned citizen at around 10:40 p.m., a BFP report showed.
From what fire investigators have gathered so far, the blaze could have started at the kitchen. They estimated the cost of damage at P100,000./PN
