ILOILO City – A resident of Barangay Blumentritt-Monica, City Proper was served with an arrest warrant on Tuesday.
From Barangay San Agustin, City Proper, Yulie Barcebas was taken to Police Station 1 at around 11:40 a.m. She was charged with violation of City Ordinance No. SP-2957-S-2020 that required the wearing of facemask due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The court, however, allowed Barcebas to post bail – P3,000 – for her temporary liberty.
Why wear facemask?
People can catch coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.
These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
