ILOILO City – Policemen arrested a woman charged with violating Article 349 of the Revised Penal Code (bigamy).
From her house in Barangay Zone 2, Santa Barbara, Iloilo, Helen Grace Salcedo-Clama was taken to the municipal police station on May 14.
The arrest warrant was served at around 9 a.m.
The court pegged the bail bond at P24,000.
It was unclear as of this writing if Salcedo-Clama was able to secure temporary liberty by posting bail.
Article 349 (Bigamy) of the Revised Penal Code read: “The penalty of prision mayor shall be imposed upon any person who shall contract a second or subsequent marriage before the former marriage has been legally dissolved, or before the absent spouse has been declared presumptively dead by means of a judgment rendered in the proper proceedings.”/PN
