AKLAN – A woman sought assistance from the Kalibo police after falling victim into a scam on Thursday, Feb. 29.
According to the Kalibo PNP, someone posing to be a representative contacted the woman, informing of her alleged victory in a popular television show.
However, to claim the prize, she needed to send money first.
Eager to receive her prize, she promptly sent the requested amount of P7,880 to the scammer via a pawnshop.
She reported to the police resorting to borrowing money for the transaction.
Upon receiving the funds, the caller ceased all communication, prompting the woman to realize she had fallen victim to a scam.
Meanwhile, the Kalibo police strongly advise everyone not to immediately believe messages or calls requesting money, and emphasized exercising caution./PN
