ANTIQUE – A mother lost her life while her two-year-old child and two others were injured in a road mishap in Barangay Caridad, Hamtic town over the weekend.
The fatality identified as 29-year-old Maricar Manalo, a resident of the town’s Barangay Calala, was aboard a top-down tricycle driven by Norlie Manalo, 36, along with her child when the accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 15.
According to police reports, a Toyota Innova driven by 75-year-old Benny Diano of Poblacion, Belison town crashed into the tricycle while they were both heading north.
The impact caused the tricycle to swerve off the road and rammed a gasoline station. Its passengers were thrown off and landed on the pavement.
Hamtic police said Manalo was rushed to the nearest hospital but succumbed to severe head injuries at 1:52 p.m. the same day.
The tricycle driver and Manalo’s child suffered injuries in their bodies and the sport utility vehicle driver sustained facial injuries. They were recuperating at the hospital.
As of this writing, Hamtic police were still investigating the cause of the accident and determining possible liabilities./PN
