ILOILO City – A woman complained to the police she lost P200 thousand to a bag slasher on Iznart Street.
A thief slashed her bag open and took her pouch containing the money, said 40-year-old Hannah Mae Celeste, a resident of Sipalay, Negros Occidental but temporarily residing in Barangay San Jose, San Miguel, Iloilo.
Celeste said she discovered the thievery on Wednesday around 1 p.m. after leaving a bank.
“I was near Hua Siong (College of Iloilo) when a tomboy called my attention. She said, ‘Ma’am, you dropped your wallet,’” she said.
According to Celeste, she turned around and the tomboy handed her the wallet. Then the tomboy left.
“I wondered how my wallet fell out of my closed bag. Then I noticed that my bag had been slashed open. My pouch containing P200 thousand was no longer in the bag,” said Celeste.
Celeste told Police Station 1 a blade or knife may have been used to slash her bag./PN
