Woman nabbed for ‘attempted shoplifting’

BACOLOD City – A suspected shoplifter was arrested at a supermarket in Barangay Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

The 54-year-old Gina Perez of Purok Tunay-Zone 1, Barangay Bata here allegedly tried to steal grocery items worth P15,000

According to the La Castellana Municipal Police Station, Perez was first spotted without any bags when she entered the supermarket on Wednesday afternoon, April 26.

A few minutes later, as she reached the counter, Perez was seen carrying a bag but only paid for two items, the police added.

Perez, unaware the whole time, was being followed by the establishment’s security guard, and upon reaching the exit, the guard ordered the suspect to show the contents of the bag. When Perez failed to present a receipt, the guard called the police.

Police recovered the grocery items, valued at around P15,704.

Perez was taken to the La Castellana Municipal Police Station and could face theft charges./PN
