ILOILO City – A 40-year-old woman was arrested in Barangay Luca, Ajuy, Iloilo for allegedly kidnapping a seven-year-old boy.
Julie Rose Recalde was held at the Ajuy Municipal Police Station on Sunday, June 11, for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Ajuy police chief Lieutenant General Enrique Robles said the suspect forcibly brought the boy to an abandoned house owned by a certain Theresita Bañas.
“Nang ma-confirm natin na nagtatago sila sa abandoned house, I personally rescued the victim, and we were able to arrest the suspect,” Robles said.
He added: “Sabi nya [suspect], kinuha nya ang bata kasi sinasaktan ng parents, but we are not sure if true ang sabi ng suspect. Sabi naman ng kapatid ng suspect, may sakit sa utak pero they have to prove that to the court,” Robles added./PN
