BACOLOD City – An old woman burned herself in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
The 83-year-old Lucia Alvarez poured kerosene all over her body and set herself on fire using a match stick at their backyard around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Chief Inspector Robert Indiape, officer-in-charge of the municipal police station.
Some of her neighbors tried to put out the fire but it was too late, investigators said. Alvarez died, they added.
From what the police gathered so far, Alvarez had a misunderstanding with her children.
