Woman shot dead in Malay

AKLAN – A 50-year old woman was shot dead inside her home in Barangay Sambiray, Malay town in this province over the weekend.

Analisa Ascaño Torres, who worked in Malay Municipal Assessor’s Office, was found with gunshot wounds at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 4.

According to the Malay police, the victim answered a knock at the door and was shot by an unidentified suspect at close range. The victim’s children were unharmed when the attack happened.

The victim was rushed to Malay Municipal Hospital in Barangay Motag and later pronounced dead.

Police said a witness spotted the gunman, wearing a motorcycle helmet, running off to an alley and rode a motorcycle after the fatal shooting.

As of writing, Malay police were digging for closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footages that may provide clues and identify the gunman.

Meanwhile, Sambiray village chief Jimmy Solano said the victim sustained gunshot wounds to her head, chest and shoulder.

Anyone with any information about the shooting incident is asked to contact the Malay Municipal Police Station at 036-2883066 or 09985986122./PN
