ILOILO City – A 67-year-old woman drowned in the Batiano River in Zone 1, Barangay Boulevard, Molo district yesterday.
Molo police said Salvacion Demesa, a resident of Barangay East Baluarte, had been suffering from nervous breakdown.
The victim went down the bridge to take a bath at the river. She possibly slipped with her left foot sustaining a wound, and drowned, according to barangay kagawad John Espia.
The victim had been saved several times before from trying to go down the river to take a bath, said alias “Alleo,” a resident of the area.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician, police said./PN
